Every piece that leaves our Athens studio is the result of a shared vision between two artists. From raw clay to finished form — a journey through fire, shaped by four hands at every stage.

Preparation

We begin with raw clay, wedging it by hand to expel air and align its structure.

Hand-Building

Every curve and texture is sculpted by hand. With four hands involved, every decision is twice-refined.

Decoration

Hand-applied engobes from metal oxides we mix ourselves. Each surface becomes a unique signature.

Bisque Fire

Firing at 980–1000°C transforms fragile earth into porous ceramic. What enters as clay emerges as stone.

Glaze & High Fire

Glazing by hand, then fired at 1000–1280°C. A third fire adds 24K gold accents on select pieces.

Afis Yfes is the convergence of two perspectives, a shared journey in our Athens studio where ancient techniques are distilled into a contemporary vision. We believe ceramics should transcend utility; they are vessels of meaning that anchor and define the landscape of a space.

Every piece is a slow, rhythmic creation — shaped entirely by hand, fired many times, and finished with unique engobes we compose ourselves. This meticulous process ensures that each work carries its own, unrepeatable energy, a testament to the tactile narrative of its making.
